So the interior of your car shines like new again!

Throw away the garbage

One of my cleaning rules is that decluttering is the first step to cleaning. You can’t start cleaning car carpets or washing doors when you’re wading through a mountain of drive-through take-out containers and dirty tissues. OK, so that’s an exaggeration (I hope), but you should still declutter first. Grab a garbage bag and recycling bin and get to work! If you have other items in your car, remove them as well. This applies to bags, car seats, toys, blankets; Anything you won’t clean and won’t be part of your car will just get in the way and prolong the cleaning process.

Clean your car floor mats

Floor mats are dark in color, which means you usually don’t notice they’re dirty, but you step on them literally every day. Vending machines are encrusted with all the dirt from your shoes and everything else that comes into your car. Take out all your machines, and you’ll see how disgusting they are. The first thing you need to do is shake them thoroughly to remove all the loose dirt and debris. Next, grab a clean tarpaulin to put it on. So they are not polluted again from the ground. If you don’t have a tarpaulin, just put some clean garbage bags ready. A vacuum cleaner is a great way to soak up even more dirt and grime before washing. Then spray your mats with a hose. Your mats should look pretty clean at this time, but to be thorough, mix warm water and a splash of dish soap in a bucket. Scrub your mats clean and hang them to dry before putting them back in the car.

Car Carpet Cleaning

Once you are done with your floor mats, you can proceed with the carpet. Take your vacuum cleaner and get all the dirt and dust out. Do not forget to suck in all corners and under the seats and pedals. If your carpet is stained, it’s helpful to identify the stain before treating it. Different stains react to different cleaning solutions. You can make your own stain remover or use a store-bought stain remover. The Biokleen Bac-Out stain and odor remover is an enzyme-based cleaner and is ideal for carpet and upholstery cleaning. can be found on my blog “Six products to effectively remove carpet and upholstery stains” More ideas Here is my recipe for a great DIY carpet cleaner for your car:

  • One cup of detergent
  • A cup of white vinegar
  • A cup of soda

Spray the stain until it is soaked, then leave it on for 10 minutes and then scrub it.Use the carpet cleaner of your choice for the rest of your carpet and scrub with a bristle brush. Allow to dry and then vacuum one last time. And for more DIY cleaners, check out my 50 DIY cleaning recipes.

Car window cleaning

Before you talk to me because I forced you to scrub your car carpets, let me just say that cleaning car windows is a breeze by comparison. A microfiber cloth is the best cloth for most cleaning work, but especially for glass windows. To clean car windows, you can use any in-store glass cleaning solution or make your own. My favorite DIY window cleaner is:

  • A cup of water
  • A cup of white vinegar
  • One teaspoon cornstarch

Always start at the top of the window and work your way down to catch drops and avoid streaks.

How to clean car seats

How you clean your car seats depends on whether they are made of leather or fabric. If your seats are made of fabric, start by vacuuming each seat thoroughly. Get your vacuum cleaner in the seams and where the bottom of the seat meets the backrest. This is usually where all the french fries that miss your mouth end up. You can treat all stains with a store-bought or homemade stain remover. Again, which product or solution you use depends on what caused the stain. An upholstery cleaner for spraying on should work for most stains. Many of us drink coffee in the morning on our way to work, so coffee is one of the most common car seat spots. Here is a DIY cleaner for coffee stains:

  • A cup of white vinegar
  • Two cups of water
  • A teaspoon of detergent.

Remember to leave all stain solutions on for about 10 minutes before scrubbing. If you do not work with stains, you can use any upholstery cleaner for cotton seats. the cleaner with a scrubbing brush and then wipe it with a damp microfiber cloth to remove it. And of course let it dry. If you have leather car seats, a vacuum joint attachment is really helpful here. Use your vacuum cleaner thoroughly, especially in the seam area of the leather. Then wipe with a standard leather cleaner. If you want to go one step further, you can use a leather care to make your leather seats look like new.

Cleaning car consoles and doors

Car consoles and doors are often overlooked when cleaning cars, but both are frequently touched surfaces that need to be cleaned regularly. Keep your car doors open while cleaning the doors so that any dirt falls out of your car. Most car doors are made of carpet and vinyl or leather. Use a damp, microfiber cloth to wipe all parts of the door, including the insides of the bags. You can use your damp microfiber cloth to tackle your console and gear shift. I don’t know about you, but my daughter’s juice, my tea, and Chad’s coffee often leak or run to the bottom of the cup holder, and it’s pretty disgusting in it. If your cup holder is removable, you can soak it in a solution of warm water with a little detergent. If not, make the same solution and use your microfiber cloth to clean the cup holder inside and around it.

Eliminate bad odors in the car

Following all these steps to clean your car is an essential part of eliminating car odors, but sometimes you’ll need extra help to make that inhabited car smell disappear. Just like cleaning your refrigerator, you can use baking soda to prevent and eliminate odors. After your car is dry, sprinkle a little baking soda over the carpet and fabric seats. Do not use baking soda on leather seats!! Leave overnight and vacuum in the morning.Your car should smell fresh and clean so you can start eating French fries and spilling coffee again.

Car interior cleaning – How often is appropriate?

Cleaning your car is a big task. Luckily, you don’t have to do that often. How often you need to clean your car depends on how often you eat in your car, whether you have pets in your car, and whether you have children in your car.Keeping the dirt under control before it accumulates can help you avoid cleaning your car too often. Throw away garbage daily and treat stains as soon as they arise. That being said, I hope you know exactly what to do when you need to clean your car.
